Sand, salt, humidity and sun is great if it's kept outside. Not for your photographs. Without teaching 5th grade science it's important for you to properly take care of your photographs. Have them printed with state-of-the-art archival professional ink. Have your memento's framed properly by using mats, and non-acidic tape.
